About Ray

Ray Flowers is a professional musician and composer working primarily in
the world of music for media.

Ray began his musical journey as an 8-year-old playing simple melodies on his Aunty's Piano,
loving the sound without knowing what he was doing. He began guitar lessons at the tender age
of 10 and soon discovered a desire to create his own, all be it simple, music. That desire he felt
as a kid still burns bright to this day.

Fast forward a few decades, loads of bands, lots of formal musical study, many, many recording
sessions and Ray finds himself writing production music that is heard on TV and radio all around the world. From The Simpsons to Walt Disney film, Zootopia. In his capacity as a writer of music for media. Ray has worked in many styles but is always drawn, time and again to melody and rich harmony.

Personal Projects - Ray has continued to write songs in parallel with his career as a media composer and released the album, Ray Flowers - Free To Fly, in 2010. The album was a mix of Latin jazz instrumentals and vocal tracks, featuring a number of guest singers including Clare Martin. The album also featured The City Of Prague Orchestra, recorded at Smecky Studios (Prague) as well as a stellar lineup of the
UK's leading session musicians.

Ray's current project, started in Lockdown and soon to be released, is an album of tunes influenced by the great songs and songwriters of the '70s, from Fagan and Becker to Carol King but updated for the here and now. The album is being co-produced by bass player Ernie Mckone (Style Council, Marlena Shaw) and features many of the UK's top session players. All the tracks feature vocals with Ray taking some of the leads in addition to a couple of guest vocalists, TBA.
